Ray Wu Memorial Fund Events

Since the launch of the fundraising campaign by the Ray Wu Memorial Fund three months ago, we have received overwhelming responses from friends like you who share the fond memory of Dr. Ray Wu and are dedicated to the cause of carrying on Dr. Ray Wu’s legacy in promoting the careers of young scientists in life sciences. Through the generous donations, RWMF has raised $73,051 as of 9/15/2008. Here, we express our sincere gratitude to the donors for their support. A donor list will be posted on this website soon. We encourage our friends who have not yet donated to Ray Wu Memorial Fund to seriously consider becoming a donor. Regardless of the level of donation, your support is invaluable to the Ray Wu Memorial Fund.

To update you on other progresses of RWMF, the following are a few recent accomplishments: (1) Through the efforts of Dr. Ming Luo, the Ray Wu Memorial Fund, Inc has received the official notification from the IRS for the approval of its tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization. Therefore, future donations can be made payable directly to RWMF and can claim as tax-deductible charitable contributions. (2) A website for the Ray Wu Memorial Fund has been set up and maintained by Dr. Wei Guo of Dr. Hong Wu’s laboratory. This website is a functional portal for us to exchange information and publicize the Ray Wu Memorial Fund. (3) Drs. Hong Wu and PC Huang have been actively working on the publication of a memoriam of Dr. Ray Wu.

The Ray Wu Memorial Fund is off to a great start. In the following months, we will continue our fundraising effort. In addition, a committee will be established shortly to select the 2009 recipients of the Ray Wu Prize. We hope that you will be able to help by volunteering to serve on the evaluation committee or send your suggestions. Together, we will succeed in this worthy cause!
